"Ibsen's play Hedda Gabler and Pirandello's play Six Characters in Search of an Author present several profound dramatic differences. Ibsen wrote his plays while a sojourner in Italy, although he was Norwegian. Pirandello was Sicilian born and emphasized his Italian nativity through his first creative efforts. While Ibsen's themes deal a lot with the moralistic faults of modern society, Pirandello's themes of tragedy and disillusionment expose his own personal trials and tribulations. What we shall deal with here in comparing these plays, is contrasting the following items:
