It is an important work though because of the view of slavery in the south. "At the heart of Pudd'nhead Wilson is Twain's most despairing vision relating to the fall of man and his ultimate inability to reform." (Davis 147) Puddenhead Wilson also has an Almanac written by Twain with tongue firmly planted in cheek. It was printed as a real calendar by The Century magazine where his story serial was first published."
