2,310 words (approx. 9.2 pages) | 18 sources | APA | 2009 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper stresses that corporate ethics programs are a great benefit to the stakeholders of an organization. Employees of a business with an ethics program gain by having improved working environments and by having their psychological needs met, which, the author relates, unites the workers to a heightened level of commitment to the company. The paper concludes that the costs of maintaining an ethics program are off set by the gains through benefits to employees, customers, profits, and investors of a socially responsible organization that recognizes ethical necessity.

From the Paper:

"A code of ethics is designed to guide the actions of employees, but the employees are not the only ones to benefit from the program. With a high-quality institution of employees, the organization still needs a baseline of customers. A corporate ethics program may help ensure the growth and stability of the customer base through direct benefits to the customers. Some of the benefits that may be gained from the customer perspective are satisfaction, trust, and a relationship. As the employees of an organization accept and abide by an ethics program, they may naturally focus on their actions to the customer."
