"It is reported that many students are being traumatized by the frequent application of corporal punishment, and that this results in decreased academic performance, and an increase in psycho-social problems. Recent studies indicate that students who receive corporal punishment obtain lower grades and often fail to retain the information they are being taught. Corporal punishment is really child abuse. Child abuse can seriously affect the learning process and can have a specific impact on students' emotional, intellectual, and social lives. It can also lead to violence in our society. (Magrid 2003)."
