Computer, Information and Society
An analysis and review of Jonathan Band's article, "The Copyright Paradox".
1,125 words (approx. 4.5 pages) | 0 sources | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper explains that, in his article, "The Copyright Paradox", Jonathan Band explores the "paradox" that copyright holders (e.g., the Recording Industry Association of America) claim that copyright is under attack through Internet piracy, while library and other content user groups claim that they are under attack by copyright holders. The paper examines Band's argument that both sides are accurate to a degree, although the recording industry may be exaggerating its claims in order to promote legislation to eliminate "fair use" and extend copyright law further.
