675 words (approx. 2.7 pages) | 1 source | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

"The choral odes in Greek tragedy serve to explain and promote the theme. The overall theme of the "Agamemnon" is a contradictory one, extreme hatred within a context of love. The choral ode analyzed in this paper is pure chorus and is an address to Clytemnestra which had commenced "My lady, no grave man could speak with better grace". The ode is therefore a challenge to male dominance. This choral ode is a continuation of the theme of male-female conflict begun in the first choral ode that also was addressed to Clytemnestra.
