According to Schweitzer, humans are here in order to do good in order to preserve our, as well as others', will-to-live. Evil leads to destruction and an ethical man knows that he is not to injure any creature of God. It is sane to want to do good. For not doing so may make us unneeded on earth and in a system of God, unnecessary and ripe for possible removal."
