1,781 words (approx. 7.1 pages) | 6 sources | MLA | 2009

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the storyline within a film. It specifically focuses on one type of story that seems to have distinguished itself among many others - the road film. It looks at how the topic of "the road" or "the journey" can be used in many different genres such as fantasy, science fiction or action. The paper discusses how all of these genres offer a different perspective and new opportunities for the theme of "the journey."

From the Paper:

"Most of the films we've witnessed throughout the semester seem to invoke the concept of Freedom, whether that Freedom is seeking escape or that Freedom is seeking closure or whether that Freedom is merely jest seeking, the act of Freedom offers a way for the main character to express the true nature of the story. Freedom is not just a "plot device" it can be used in many other different ways. It can be used to express love, understanding, togetherness and sometimes hate. Three films that we've viewed offer perfect examples on how Freedom can ultimately change the story, the characters and alternately us, the viewer."
