The Public Benefits and Insurance Counseling helps people apply for government assistance such as Medi-Cal and other forms of health insurance. Clients also have access to the HIV/AIDS Legal Services Alliance (HALSA). This organization offers free services to clients dealing with financial, economic and legal matters. Licensed professionals at APLA's Pacific Center offers mental health services to the clients (M. G. Muchler, telephone communication, May 22, 2000)."
