Paper Summary:
In this paper, the writer describes what motivated his/her decision to become a veterinarian. The writer discusses one of his/her long-term goals of starting a private practice for checking up, treating or providing services for household pets. The writer concludes that as Steve Irwin dedicated his life to being with, appreciating, learning from and saving animals, he/she intends to do the same.
From the Paper:
"When I was young I always grew up with pets in my family and also the pets my friends had. They became a part of my daily life as much as people, family and friends were. They share a unique place in your life when they touch you with their comforting and uncanny sense of companionship and unfaltering loyalty. They can be entertaining, lovable, annoying, incorrigible all in one day, yet you could feel very lonely when they leave for only a little while or depart for good. I would also go with my family and friends to the veterinarian and to pet stores and animals never cease to amaze me. What hits me hard and contributed to my decision to become a veterinarian was when I would see dead animals on the road, especially puppies."
