Paper Summary:
In this paper the author discusses his reasoning for wanting to study medicine. The author points to his life experiences, sociological influences and his love of biology as the driving factors behind his wish to pursue a career in medicine.
From the Paper:
"The driving passion behind my love of medicine is my need to support and engage people while respecting their individuality and culture. My travels to North America, Australia, China, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia have become an integral part of my personal growth and have immersed me in many different cultures and socioeconomic conditions. Travel helped me experience, accept, and embrace the ways others live and learn. There is a peculiar pleasure in riding out into the unknown, and these travels tested my every sense of courage, judgment, and integrity; however, I did not survive on my own. The people I thought were worlds apart were in fact much like me. I will never forget their kindness and generosity, and I will spend my entire life giving back to the world that has given so much to me. My travels also taught me that British Columbia is the most beautiful place in the world and the place I want to call home."
