Abstract This paper reviews and discusses the history of the Chevrolet and the term "Z/28". For the average person with limited knowledge of cars, the term "Z/28" does not mean much. This paper will enlighten us to the fascinating history of this term and what it means to someone who understands and appreciates cars.
From the Paper "The Chevrolet Camaro, along with other Chevrolet performance automobiles such as the Corvette, the Chevelle, and the Nova, has endured throughout motor history to give a sense of elite speed and performance for this car-maker. From its birth in the 1960s until production of the model was stopped in the early 21st century, the Camaro provided car enthusiasts with an affordable, yet powerful machine to drive, race, customize, and idolize. One term that seems almost synonymous with Camaro is Z/28. Most people that know a bit about sports cars or muscle cars most likely have no idea where this term comes from. "Z/28," to them, most likely is merely a type of Camaro or just another term for the beloved model. Yet, there is much interesting history behind the term, "Z/28," much more than those average car enthusiasts might expect."

Abstract This paper discusses the short story, ?The Ant of the Self,? written by Z. Z. Packer. The paper explores how the story demonstrates a common despair children often discover within the relationships with their irresponsible fathers. The paper examines the story's theme of the importance of a father figure, as well as the importance of discovering what it means to be a real man.
From the Paper "Spurgeon's pain is caused primarily by what he does not share with his father. It also stems from exactly from who Ray is. From the beginning of the story, we are aware that Spurgeon does not have a meaningful relationship with his father. In fact, it appears as if the roles are reversed because the son is picking up his father from jail instead of the other way around. Ray, complete with a DUI on his record, is quite an interesting and unorthodox father figure. He is always thinking of schemes to make money fast, schemes that he refers to as investments. In addition, the story revolves around one of Ray's schemes that involves selling exotic birds at the Million Man March in Washington, DC, which is 700 miles away."
Abstract Through an analysis of The Lesson" by Toni Cade Bambara and Z.Z. Packer's "Brownies", this paper focuses on racial, economic and financial injustice and how society tends to set up certain groups to fail. It looks at how the books highlight the lives of young black children in the city who are introduced to the outrageous spending of white people in one of New York City's famous toy stores.
From the Paper ""The Lesson", tells the story of a group of young African-American children living in New York. When an educated woman named Miss Moore who lives on their block brings them to the famous F.A.O. Schwarz, they experience injustice first hand. The narrator Sylvia is a bold and brazen character who finds herself hesitant to walk inside the store. "Not that I'm scared, what's there to be afraid of, just a toy store. But I feel funny, shame. But what I got to be shamed about? Got as much right to go in as anybody" (1111). After making it inside the store, Sylvia finds herself angry; angry that Miss Moore has ruined her day by bringing her to the store, and angry that some people can afford to spend the same money on toys that it costs to feed her family for weeks. From the Paper "Executive Summary
La-Z-Boy is a furniture company best known for its recliner chairs, and for furniture which has traditionally targeted older consumers in residential settings. The company has enjoyed a strategy of growth through acquisition, but has recently struggled to maintain its admittedly small market share in a highly competitive market. Today's furniture market is populated by large conglomerates for which furniture is only one business unit, and La-Z-Boy must find effective ways to market against these companies.
La-Z-Boy has strong financial statements which indicate that it should be able to obtain additional financing without difficulty; this is critical if the company is to remain a strong participant in this industry. The company needs to target younger consumers in the ..."
Abstract The following paper examines the five codes and ideas that appear in Roland Barthes' 'S/Z' and applies it to Jane Austen's novel 'Mansfield Park'. Barthes' codes apply both on the small scale, to the language and on the larger scale, to the whole novel. This paper demonstrates the application of the codes, specifically the cultural and symbolic code, to both the novel as a whole and to certain selected texts.
From the Paper "Roland Barthes writes about different characters in Sarrasine fitting into different roles, such as passive/active or mother/father. In Mansfield Park, many of the characters fit into these roles or actant. Fanny can definitely be classified as "passive". She is not a radical, she stands for silence, tradition, tranquillity, manners and for acting upon what one knows, not what one feels. Mary Crawford is "active" and an advocate of change. She acts on her emotions and stands for movement, modern ideas, progressiveness and speaking one's mind instead of remaining silent."
This paper is a business research proposal that demonstrates the methodology to determine the degree to what the age a book sold by a small company on EBay and the number of bidders on that book influences the final price for which the book is sold.
Abstract This paper discusses a research proposal for "Dead White Males: Words from the Past", a small home based business specializing in the sale of antique books from American and European authors via the Ebay web site. The paper states that the research will use three inferential statistical tests for measuring the data: Multiple regression, z-test and t-test. The author explains that the data will be collected over a one year period from usage reports generated as part of the Ebay service for members doing business on their web site.

From the Paper "To reduce the chance of wild swings in uncontrolled variables such as the relative popularity of specific authors and the availability of what books to sell, the data set will be collected on only books by American authors, and for books that are between 100 and 150 years old. The advantage of these limits are that American books in this age range are relatively easy to obtain for people in the antique books business and additionally, this method can help filter out books whose bid prices are exceptionally high or low, (2 standard deviations). Wide fluctuations in price can occur with exceptionally rare books, or books whose dead authors are currently in vogue. It is hoped that this method will help to not skew the results of the data set studied."
Abstract This paper discusses two different approaches for understanding mental imagery as put forth by Stephen Kosslyn and Z.W. Pylyshyn, explaining that Kosslyn's more traditional view of mental image is pictorial or depictive while Zenon Pylyshyn argues that imagery is prepositional. The paper describes the empirical support for Kosslyn's theory as well as the criticisms of his theory, focusing primarily on Pylyshyn's criticism of Kosslyn's theory. The paper then elaborates on Pylyshyn's theory of mental imagery, pointing out that Pylyshyn's theory of mental imagery is not as accepted as Kosslyn's because what Pylyshyn is offering amounts to more of a rebuttal of Kosslyn's theory than an actual organized, principled theory of its own.
From the Paper "The central defining feature of Cognitive Psychology is the idea of representation (Tye 1991). All of cognitive science is built upon the premise that certain naturally evolved things in the world (namely neuronal states in the human head) have come to "refer to", "stand for", "mean", or represent certain features or facts of the natural world that are external to the head, and namely, the organism in general. Assuming this, one wants to elucidate the nature of how this is accomplished. How can a spongy, electrical mass of gray tissue represent all of one's knowledge and beliefs, one's hopes and fears, one's states of emotions and pain, and lastly, one's phenomenal experience of the world."
This paper discusses the management of the Your Health Foods and Products company while examining the beliefs of James M. Kouzes & Barry Z. Posner in the book "Encouraging the Heart".
Abstract In this article, the writer examines the Your Health Foods and Products company and looks at the management style of manager Laura Johnson. While looking at this company, the writer explores the opinions and principles of James M. Kouzes & Barry Z. Posner, as demonstrated in their book "Encouraging the Heart". The writer notes that the two management principles that are most clearly part of Ms. Johnson's success strategy include setting clear standards and expecting excellence. Further, the writer points out that another quality that makes Ms. Johnson such an excellent leader is the fact that she absolutely believes in her values, her company, her products and her employees.
From the Paper "According to James M. Kouzes & Barry Z. Posner, it is vitally important to have a set of commonly-held, cherished standards throughout the company. Standards are built upon values and principles. An interesting element of values that Kouzes & Posner address in their work is the fact that company standards, values and principles also work closely together with personal standards, values and principles. According to the authors, it is therefore essential that each employee's personal values be as close to the company's set of principles as possible. In order to effectively lead such a team, the manager should set an example by matching her own set of values and principles to those of the company. The concept of unity is important: employees and managers alike should unite to passionately adhere to the set of standards for the company."
Abstract This paper reviews "The Leadership Challenge" which has become a focal work for those who strive to be good leaders or who want to continue to improve their skills. The paper describes the major themes in the book, which include how leaders must motivate others and the importance of human networks. The paper concludes with a discussion of the role of encouragement especially with youth.
From the Paper "The book is about how leaders go about mobilizing others in order to get "extraordinary things done in an organization" (Kouzes et al xviii). The theme that plays throughout this book is that leaders don't become effective by simply "leading" but in fact they are constantly mobilizing others and motivating others to do great things and to achieve a high level of success in their office, business, or special project. An examination of the content and implications of the article, "A New Eutriconodont Mammal And Evolutionary Development in Early Mammals," written by Z. Luo, P. Chen, G. Li, G. Chen and M. Chen.
Abstract This paper examines and discusses the article, "A New Eutriconodont Mammal And Evolutionary Development in Early Mammals," written by Z. Luo, P. Chen, G. Li, G. Chen and M. Chen. The paper discusses the content of the article, the theory that it presents with regards to evolution and the implications of the findings on our understanding of the evolution of mammals.
From the Paper "This discovery may show that the development of these key mammalian traits in modern humans may have begun to develop long before anyone had previously thought they had, and certainly long before the development of human beings. While the possibility also exists that this may be an aberration and that this development arose and disappeared and arose again in modern mammals is also a distinct possibility, and many of their fellow researches seemed to think the latter case is more likely. More transitional fossils like this one need to be found in order to corroborate this singular find. However, the rarity of the find coupled with the unusual evolutionary connections, is certainly raising many questions in the scientific community. And questions are the beginning of true knowledge."
Abstract This paper investigates the role of formal methods (such as Z, Object-Z, VDM, B) within the software process and compares these to less formal methods such as natural language specifications and semi-formal methods like UML/Fusion. The complexities of formal methods are weighed against the software quality benefits often achieved through their use. Overall cost-effectiveness of both methods are discussed, as well as situations where formal methods may not be required (non-critical applications, rapid prototyping).
From the Paper "While it is clear that both formal and informal methods have their own inherent benefits and shortfalls, it seems as though formal methods are the best option if software quality and overall cost-effectiveness are to be maximised. With increased tool support and method standardisation, barring personal preference, there are few reasons why a formal approach should not be implemented. Increased acceptance of formal methods would most likely lead to higher quality software due to the more complete and precise specification that mathematical notations allow. While the initial costs experienced in the early stages of the development process may be high, these become less important as the benefits trickle their way through the software development process."
Abstract Paper details operating systems, features and advantages of personal computers and mainframes. The PC operating systems included in the paper are Windows, Linux and MAC OSX. Mainframe operating systems included are z/OS, z/TPF, and Linux.
From the Paper "The latest Mac offering, OS X, is based on UNIX and thus shares its exemplary reliability and efficiency. The standard GUI is unique to the Mac and sets new standards in user-friendliness. The biggest advantage of the MacOS is its ease of use. On the other hand, the number of programs available for MacOS is still somewhat more limited than for the PC. A final disadvantage is that a Mac is much more expensive than a comparable PC."

Abstract This paper details the results of a chemistry experiment on the deblocking of benzyloxycarbonlyglycylglycine to glycylglycine. The production of glycylglycine 4, a peptide consisting of two glycine units, is described. The reaction of Z-Gly-Gly-OH 1, an N-carbobenzoxylated peptide was reacted with hydrogen bromide in acetic acid to produce glycylglycine 4. The purification of glycylglycine 4 was achieved through filtration to give a low yield of 13%. The experiment was successful with the product being identified as glycylglycine 4; it was identified as such through the analysis of its melting point.
From the Paper "Z-Gly-Gly-OH 1 is a peptide composed of two gylcine residues or units. Z-Gly-Gly-OH 1 may also be referred to as a C-terminal amino acid because it has a free carboxyl group at the right end of the molecule1. Z-Gly-Gly-OH 1 is reacted with hydrogen bromide in glacial acetic acid, which results in the scission of the N-acyl substituent yielding glycylglycine 42. "
